Day1

Belgrade – Zlatibor | Solitude on the Banks of the Drina

Depart from the Serbian capital in the morning, traveling southwest along the Sava River valley. Visit the Drina River House and the Wooden Town, experience a vintage steam train ride, and spend the night in the Zlatibor mountain region.

Bajina Bašta Town

Visit the Drina River House, a National Geographic cover icon. This solitary wooden cabin, perched on a rocky islet in the middle of the river, has withstood over half a century of floods.

The house is located mid-river; it is best viewed and photographed from a distance. Please be cautious.

Mokra Gora Mountain Region

Step into the Wooden Town (Drvengrad), a creation of acclaimed film director Emir Kusturica. The entire village is built from timber, arranged radially around a traditional Orthodox wooden church.

You may opt for a ride on the vintage Šargan Eight steam train, which traverses 22 tunnels and 10 bridges.

Black Lake (Crno Jezero)

Tara River Canyon Bridge (Đurđevića Tara Bridge)

Site of the Former Chinese Embassy in Yugoslavia

At the site of the 1999 bombing, a memorial plaque was erected by the Serbian people in honor of the Chinese citizens who lost their lives, symbolizing the deep friendship between the two nations.

Kalemegdan Fortress
