Itinerary Overview
Athens – Peloponnese – Zakynthos: Through Millennia, to the First Azure of the Aegean
Depart Athens in the early morning to explore the Corinth Canal, Palamidi Castle, and Nafplio on the Peloponnese peninsula, then board an evening ferry to Zakynthos.
Corinth Canal
This golden waterway, carved in the 19th century, connects the Adriatic and Aegean Seas, shortening voyages by 320 kilometres. Standing at its edge and gazing down, the 79-metre-deep rock walls rise like knife cuts—an exquisite marriage of human engineering and natural grandeur.
Palamidi Castle
This Venetian military fortress commands the Argive plain from its perch 216 metres above. Comprising eight bastions, the westernmost—St. Andrew's—still houses an exquisite chapel. The ascent requires 999 stone steps.
Nafplio
Hailed as "the Naples of the Eastern Roman Empire," this harbour town served as the first capital of modern Greece. The Venetian Bourtzi Castle, built in the 18th century, still stands sentinel upon the hill, guarding this romantic seaside gem.
Ionian Sea
Cross the Ionian Sea by ferry to reach Zakynthos.

Zakynthos: Legends of Navagio and the Cerulean Caves, Verses of the Mediterranean
Discover the filming location of *Descendants of the Sun*, cruise to Navagio Beach and the Blue Caves, then enjoy an afternoon stroll through Zakynthos Town.
Navagio Beach (Shipwreck Cove)
In 1983, a smuggling vessel from Sicily ran aground here, forever stranded upon this pristine white shore. Towering cliffs encircle the cove like a screen, whilst crystalline azure waters contrast dramatically with the rusted hull—an arresting visual dialogue between nature and human fate.
Blue Caves
Sea caves sculpted by millennia of waves, their cobalt hue created by refracted light. The water within is crystalline, revealing seaweed, moss, and sponges in extraordinary clarity—a translucent underwater gallery.
Zakynthos Town
Stroll through Solomos Square and absorb the island's unhurried rhythm. The cafés lining the streets invite you to savour Greek coffee as the Aegean sun dips below the horizon.

From the 15th to the 12th century BC, this powerful citadel ruled the eastern Aegean world—the legendary capital of the Achaeans and realm of Agamemnon in Homer's epics.
